My name is Anis Hoda. My mother is suffering from Vascular Dementia. It’s a brain disorder in which brain cells start drying and thus the normal functioning if brain becomes less and less. You can call it sister disease of Alzheimer’s. Mom has a Phd in Chemistry and was Head of Chemistry Department until she retired about 4 years ago. Now she only draws straight lines when asked to write the alphabets.

This blog is my way of sharing with the world mom’s everyday struggle as her disease progresses. Its my way of venting. It’s the story of my mother and I.

Anis, assalamalaikum! Talked to your Dad yesterday. We are praying for slowing down the deterioration and lead her to reversal, inshaAllah. It is important to also not neglect yourselves and others around her. Look after each other and take care. – Faiz

It is so great to read about the day to day happenings in Phupijaan’s life. While I think of her often, I also feel guilty about not being able to visit her. However, these blogs help me get some exposure into how she is doing. InshaAllah I will visit her soon!

As-salamu ‘alaykum. Jazakallahu kharan for your blog. My mother has also now been diagnosed with Advanced Vascular Dementia. Your blog came as a good surprise whilst I was seaching for du’aat on the web. I just want to say that your blog is helping us alot, as we’re trying to make sense of this rollercoaster ride. It’s been so usefull to read what you’re going through, and how you’re managing it. It’s kind of preparing us for what will/may come of our mother insha’ Allah. Please keep us informed, even though it may be harder now. May Allah do The Best for your mother – ameen.
